Building.....Our Future Architects.

We were able to observe the future architects of the world.
I love to see the joy and excitement in the children's eyes as they build and explore with different materials. The sugar cubes remain a favorite as they figure out different things to build along with different ways to build with them. They also have exploring more with the blocks and material to build up various homes for their animals.

They are developing skills of listening to one another, working together, and sharing ideas. It takes time to develop the understanding of using others' ideas along with your own to create a project. The past few weeks the class has really showed me that they are working on these skills by some of the creations they have built.

Highlight: Meeting local celebrity Channel 4's Weatherman Mr. Steve Templeton
He was in the building visiting the middle school classes and we were able to see him on our way outside to play,

Afternoon quiet time, stamping out winter words.

Magic House Visit to the Village!
Another wonderful trip across the street to the Magic House.  The class loved visiting the village where they were able to check out different areas of  future professions.

Chapel with Mrs. Carlea
We learned how our sins are washed away with the blood of Jesus.

Puzzle Fun!

Morning Journals

Chapel with Miss Julianna
We heard how our sins are black and yucky and that God wipes those clean when we ask for forgiveness.

Penguins
Our class did a small unit on penguins. We learned where they live and that they come in different sizes. They each created their own penguins by looking at the shapes in a penguin. For example, they have a round/oval body, and triangle shaped flippers.

Water color painting

 Alphabet Stamping
Students match the stampers to the upper case letters on the sheets. This activity works on their letter recognition since the letters on the sheets are not in alphabetical order.

Working on their letter writing in the writing area

Geo-Boards

Water Beads Experiment
We looked at the the different phases of waters beads.  We started out with the starter beads, teeny, tiny beads. Overnight the water made the beads grow.

Then, we put some in the freezer to see how they changed.

After sitting out overnight without water around them, their size became smaller.

We also took turns taking water colors to clear water beads and making them change colors.

Here, we mixed colors with all of the water beads.
This coming week they will be out in the sensory bins to play with.

Penguin Families
Our class learned about the importance of family, both the mother and father, in raising the little penguins. During center time, they created their own penguin families. They are hanging up in the hallway.

We learned about water density and how heavy water can be.

1st time, didn't work so well.

Take 2, much better.

Timmy loves to read!
