Winter Fun!

Igloo Building
Last week we learned how igloos are made. They are formed by blocks of snow/ice formed into a round shape. The class also practiced making their own igloos formations out of sugar cubes.

Snowflakes!
No two snowflakes are the same. We spent time learning about how snow is made. It is a snow crystal bumping into things in the clouds forming the branches or the arms. Each snow crystal has six sides.
For a STEM/Art project the children created their own snowflakes. First, they drew their snowflake and then used various types of noodles to cover the lines of the snowflakes. This week the flakes will be spray-painted white.
Each of the snowflakes were unique, just like the unique and special children who created them.

The many faces of preschoolers!

Arctic Animal Play
We designed homes for snow animals to live in or hibernate through the winter.

 Chapel
During Chapel with Mr. Dorner, we learned about sin. Sin is the color black. And when we sin, and hurt others with our sin we need to ask for forgiveness from them and from God.

Marshmallows and Toothpicks?
What can you make with marshmallows and toothpicks? The options are endless! The children came up with so many exciting, different creations. Using their observation, prediction, and trail and error skills, they came up with many different ways to build their projects.

Water Color Painting
Nothing is wrong with a little quiet time painting and sharing our thoughts on paper.

Winter words
We used alphabet beads to spell out winter words. This project worked on our letter recognition and sounds.

Students practicing writing different words using the picture dictionaries.

Team working building a Lego town.

What do animals eat in the winter?
We discussed that sometimes animals have a hard time finding food in the winter if there is snow or ice. They used cereal, pretzels and popcorn to thread together an animal feeder to hang in the trees.

BLESSINGS ON  YOUR WEEK!
