Fall Fun!

8th Grade Egg Drop!
The class was so excited to watch the CCLS 8th graders drop their Egg Projects out of the third story window. They used their predicting skills to guess if they would break.

Recycled Building
Building and investigating with recycled tubes and shapes helps foster teamwork and sharing. Recycled building also sparks their engineering and mathematics skills.

Exploring with Letters and Patterns
Two big bowls of foam letters help the class engage in spelling their names, fall words, and even invent their own words.

They do not know they are learning by using squirrels, owls, leaves, and bats to make and create patterns.

Chapel with Ms. Julianna-
We learned about being strong and courageous through our fears.

Calendar Helper
This classroom job helps encourage the children to lead and speak in front of their peers, and help build their self-esteem.

Magna-Tiles
Building with Magna-Tiles has endless learning possibilities. The class loves to build and create with these learning tools.
The following is information from the Magna-Tiles website.

Magna-Tiles® Play Develops Critical Skills and Builds Mental Math Muscle
Magna-Tiles® make learning fun by getting children involved using a “hands-on” technique, allowing them to become critical thinkers through creative play.

Magna-Tiles® attract on all sides and combinations to create cubes, pyramids, unlimited geometric shapes, leading from two-dimensional to advanced 3-D thinking patterns. Engaging children in in-depth investigations using Magna-Tiles® helps to draw meaning and understanding from the experience.

Magna-Tiles® provide creative stimulus and right-side brain training through simple and fun construction while teaching math and spatial relationships through creative building. They are a valuable manipulative for spatial problem-solving tasks, logical thinking and math reasoning.

Magna-Tiles® are colorful, sized just right and easy-to-use learning manipulatives. These tactile and inviting shapes stimulate young minds and provide hours of creative play. Children of all ages love Magna-Tiles®!

Spiders!
Our week long project on spiders was so much fun.
First, students used their whole bodies to shake boxes full of marbles and paint.

Second, students learned about the parts of a spider and created their own spider using clay. We also learned one reason why God gave us spiders, to eat mosquitoes.

Lastly, they worked on their fine motor skills by sewing their spider webs with yarn.

They turned out amazing!

1 to 1 Counting and Number Recognition with Candy Corn
The children counted out the number of candy corns to match the number on the row on their sheets. In the end, there might have been a little candy corn tasting, too.

Students made silly pumpkins while working on cutting skills.

Our visit to the Magic House
Thanks to all the patents and grandparents who helped us on our trip.

A visit from the Kirkwood Fire Department
We learned all about fire safety.

We shouldn't be afraid or hide from the firemen. They help keep us safe.

Trick or Treat Day at Manor Grove
It was so much fun to do classroom activities in costume.
