Exploring, Creating and Making Friends

Learning Routine
Each morning when the children arrive they have two "jobs" to do. The first job is the sign-in, draw the weather and trace the number on the calendar. We do this to work on writing their name, a fine motor skill, observing the weather around us and number recognition and number order.

Writing/Drawing Journal
Their next job is to do a drawing. We are starting off with daily drawings and then will move into drawing and writing as they feel more comfortable with their journals. They all have very creative minds.

Free Choice Time
During the first 45 minutes of our day, while we are waiting for our friends to arrive, students are able to have free choice time. A variety of learning centers and activities are set up, or they can choose from the building center, dramatic play area, light table, writing center, book/puzzles or Lego table.
